YouTube Music will launch free background listening starting in Canada

This article was published on October 4, 2021 YouTube Music is lifting one of its most annoying limitations — but only in Canada. Today, YouTube announced that beginning November 3rd, customers in Canada will be able to continue listening to their music in the background while doing other tasks on their phone or when the screen is off. Background listening will support both the standard ad-supported, personalized radio mixes and any uploaded content you’ve added to your account. This is the first time that YouTube Music has offered the feature without requiring that customers step up to a Premium subscription to get it. Sony Music Launches ‘artist Assistance’ Program to Promote Wellness for Its Signed Talent

This article was published on September 30, 2021 This summer, in a widely applauded move, Sony Music Entertainment (SME) announced that it would start disregarding unrecouped balances for eligible heritage catalog artists. The landmark policy, the Legacy Unrecouped Balance Program, is the flagship program under SME’s “Artists Forward” initiative, which, according to Sony Music, focuses on “prioritizing transparency with creators in all aspects of their development”. Today, SME is announcing a major expansion of Artists Forward, with a new wellness-focused program called Artist Assistance. Believe Revenues Jump 30% In H1 2021 To Over $300 Million

Believe, which listed on the Paris stock exchange this summer, has revealed its interim financial results for the first six months of 2021. On an organic basis, Believe’s global revenues rose 30% to €260 million (USD $315m) in the half-year period, up from €196 million in the same period of 2020.
